Everybody has a story to tell.

And like the Greek scribes of yore,

Uproot is here to tell those stories.

From those using their time to help children,

to those going through gender transition,

to the Power Rangers and Billy West,

Portraits tell the stories of life.

Curtis Voelker saw his parents arrested in front of him at fourteen years old. He was asked to make a decision in that moment. Who could he spend the night with? Curtis chose to stay with his aunt and uncle, not realizing that it would change the course of his life. Now working at Central Penn College, Curtis Voelker uses his story to inspire youth and teach them that nothing is off limits, no matter what tragedies you've faced growing up.
