MONIQUE POLLART

CIVILIAN AT DUNKIRK

Everybody has a story to tell.

And like the Greek scribes of yore,

Uproot is here to tell those stories.

From those using their time to help children,

to those going through gender transition,

to the Power Rangers and Billy West,

Portraits tell the stories of life.

Monique Pollart experienced Christopher Nolan's newest movie differently than most Americans. Rather than experience the large scale evacuation for the first time, she was recalling her own memories of the war at Dunkirk. As a girl, Monique and her family were evacuating Belgium through France, but at the beaches at Dunkirk, they were turned away. Soldiers were on the beach, awaiting their fate. This is but one amazing story, and with continued support, we will soon present Portraits on her experiences dealing with Nazi occupation and more.
